Coffee bean poll tipped to reveal election result

A chain of coffee houses in Perth has started its bean poll for the federal election, and pundits will be watching closely - because it has proved 100 per cent accurate in the past.

The Miss Maud's chain has held its coffee bean poll for every federal election since 1996. In each case, the cafe's patrons picked the winner.

Patrons at Miss Maud's are given a coffee bean before they leave the store.

They are asked to put it in to the Bean-O-Metre for whichever party they think will win the election.
